U.S. consulate issues alert about violence in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil

     The U.S. Consulate in Rio issued Friday, warning about the increased violence in Rio de Janeiro in recent days. The Communique reports the last cases of trawlers on the beaches of Rio.

         According to the Consulate, the recommendation is for tourists and Americans who live in the river. They ask citizens in trip to Brazil to seek information on consulates and Embassy.

      In the note, the Consulate explains that the increase in crimes against tourists is greater in areas where the beaches and other tourist spots. According to the Communique, the criminals seek to cell phones, jewelry, bikes, purses and wallets.
